A Night in Vegas??

Picture of A Night in Vegas??

The year is 2022 and Lizzy and Camden have just kicked off junior year at the University of Alabama. Lizzy started the school year by making a VERY official announcement to her friends and family that she is FAR too busy with school and involvement to ever date again in college. As Lizzy and her friend group geared up for the second Alpha Chi Omega date party of the year, Lizzy decided that her Mississippi friend, Clara, had a super cute brother–Camden–who would be a sweet date for “A Night In Vegas” themed party.

Camden and Lizzy didn’t REALLY know each other (though they debate how much “ground work” was laid leading up to the first date :) ), but Lizzy knew that Clara was always matching Camden up with her friends who needed a friendly date that would make them laugh and not be a total weirdo. As they say, the rest was history. In fact, the day after the date party, Lizzy texted her best friend Sally Grace Shettles to emphatically declare: “I think I just met my husband”. So much for swearing off dating!

Camden and Lizzy’s love story has taken them from the ‘rolling tides’ of Tuscaloosa, the Windy City of Chicago, to where they now call home in the Magnificent city of Montgomery, Alabama. Once Camden moved in with Lizzy in December of 2025, he could not contain his excitement to propose for much longer. Camden planned a beautiful surprise engagement party on New Year’s Eve under the guise of a fancy-schmancy military retirement party for one of his dad’s friends that they just HAD to attend.

Along the chilly bank of the Columbus River Walk, where the Tombigbee River drifted quietly by, Camden knelt down and spoke of the life he dreamed of building with Lizzy: a lifetime of love, constant laughter, and working to make the world a better place, together. It felt only fitting that the same river connecting Mississippi to Alabama would witness this moment, just as this marriage will forever weave our two families into one.

From the very beginning, our love story has meant becoming part of one another’s worlds: our families, our friendships, and the lives we have built along the way. We have always cherished the people we walk this life with, and we could not be more excited to gather these exact people together in our new home to celebrate this love story. We are forever indebted to Clara Hurst for being our first cheerleader and the most wonderful matchmaker. What a blessing to be united by someone who means so much to each of us.

We love each of you so much, and while it won’t be A Night in Vegas, we hope that it will be a night to remember for years to come :)
